Students from over 30 countries have begun their studies this week on a new suite of online postgraduate Master’s programmes launched by the University of Hertfordshire, in partnership with Skilled Education—global specialists in online higher education delivery.
Covering a wide range of disciplines—from Computing and Creative Arts to Sustainability, Psychology, Business, and Health—these programmes are designed to equip students with the industry-relevant skills and knowledge most sought after by employers today.
Developed collaboratively with the University of Hertfordshire, the courses are marketed and supported by Skilled Education, experts in designing and delivering online degrees. The University, ranked 2nd in the UK for postgraduate student experience in the latest Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey, combines its strength in career-focused education with Skilled Education’s digital learning expertise. Together, they offer an engaging and interactive online experience through Herts’ virtual learning platform.
Replacing the University’s previous online portfolio, UH Online now features 25 postgraduate courses designed to help learners around the world upskill and stay competitive in an ever-evolving job market. Built with flexibility and lifelong learning in mind, these programmes support individuals at various career stages—whether just starting out, seeking advancement, or exploring a new professional path.
Students benefit from six intakes each year, a range of flexible payment plans, and corporate discounts for businesses investing in employee development. Admission criteria also value professional experience, allowing applicants without a traditional undergraduate degree—but with relevant career backgrounds—to enrol. Many programmes integrate industry projects into final dissertations, while assessments focus on real-world applications and scenarios.
Professor Quintin McKellar, Vice Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire, said:
“Higher education is one of the UK’s most valuable exports and remains in demand. Here at Herts we have always been proud of our global outlook and our commitment to making higher education available to everyone, because we know it can transform someone’s life and career.
“Our new online learning offer with Skilled Education ties these strands together. Students anywhere in the world – who may not be able to travel to pursue their academic goals – can gain one of our postgraduate qualifications in a way that is engaging and enjoyable, aligned with the modern-day workplace, and fits around their other life commitments.
“We are looking forward to a successful partnership with Skilled Education that we hope will help thousands of individuals achieve their career ambitions throughout the next decade.”
Accessibility and flexibility are central to the UH Online offering, reflecting the University’s commitment to widening access to higher education. Students have the freedom to study at their own pace, balancing academic work with professional or personal responsibilities. Every programme includes additional academic support and the option to undertake an industry project as part of the final assessment, providing practical pathways for learners with varying academic backgrounds.
Rajay Naik, CEO of Skilled Education, added:
“The pandemic accelerated the demand for online degrees, and the demand for flexible learning from people of all ages looking to upskill and reskill for new careers and opportunities is growing rapidly.
“This exciting online portfolio reimagines the excellent learning experience that Herts is known for in a highly-accessible, high-quality online mode. It creates opportunities for students that are unable to take time out of their busy career, are unable to afford the costs of study in the UK or need to remain near their family.
“We’re very proud to welcome such a dynamic and diverse first cohort of students onto these degrees this week. We look forward to working with our colleagues at Herts to deliver a fantastic academic and student experience, and expanding our partnership over the years ahead.”
